I wonder...

I just received my book "No Mercy" by Sherrilyn Kenyon through the post today. As usual I finished reading it in one seating and left me with more questions than ever...sigh...seriously this series just keeps me hooked and I just hope it won't turn out like Naruto, which is not seriously WAY out of point. Considering that these books are so much more expensive than comics, hopefully a meaningful conclusion to the series can be achieved in my lifetime :S

So after reading all those cheesy romance novels out there, I kinda thought about the "love" described in them. Seriously, can anyone actually give up someone they love if it will make the other person happier? Is anyone out there really that noble? To sacrifice ur own happiness just to make the one u love happy...hmm sounds like a very tall order to me...
I mean realistically speaking, love is like air. It can't survive without it, but u can't survive on it alone either. As we learn in primary school science class, we need food, water and air to survive. As I listen to the recent love-lives of 2 friends, I begin to ponder if love can really conquer all? When all the fights and arguments brutally points out that the 2 individuals are utterly mismatched, should either party still hold on to that inital spark of love and keep the relationship going? So I say should we hang on so desperately to the idea of love that we lose sight of who and where we are? Is love so noble and over-powering that we have to push aside the self and bend to others? While one might argue that love is the basis of self-lessness and generousity, there is a fine line between accomodating and mindlessness.

Love binds us all as human beings who inhabit the same land, but we must learn to understand and love ourselves first before we can give and accept love. When love brings wind and rain, we will sway in the storm, but we cannot be blown away; we might not be as strong as the biggest tree, but we will be as persistant as the evergreen grass.
Life can bring us lemons, but I say let's make lemonade! :)
